This is the most fun step in a painting. You see a lot of progress in a short amount of time dropping in juicy washes of color using big brushes. this is where I cover mid-tones and some darker-mid tones. I leave the eyes for last since this is the focal point of the painting with a lot of detail. I used very little masking fluid on this painting but did use it to preserve the white of the paper for the whiskers as it would have been very hard to work around them. I dropped in a lot of ultramarine blue and floated in some burnt sienna for color variation. Some darker areas are a combination of ultramarine blue and Indigo.
