Step 2

 The client and I agreed early on that this would be a late evening / night shot so we could bring out all the brilliant light from the building. With all of my paintings it is important to define early on my lightest and brightest colors so that they aren't lost later in the painting process. In this case, the building with all of the light is the brightest areas and the focal point so this was defined, mostly with my transparent "glowing" colors - Aureolin Yellow, Rose Madder, Burnt Sienna and Cobalt Blue.
